Workshop Overview

Non-profit and charitable organizations strongly depend on their board of directors for strong, innovative, and effective leadership to achieve their mission. Participants in Introduction to Board Governance Part 2 will gain knowledge and understanding in the following key board governance areas:

• Self-assessment for risk management in your organization

• Examining, understanding, and implementing the legal duties of boards: knowledge, confidentiality, care, prudence, diligence, loyalty, delegation, obedience, investment, etc.

• Additional risk management strategies: insurance, indemnification, independent legal advice, ratification, dissent, education, etc.

• Developing an action plan for your board

Please note: While it would be preferable for participants to have registered and completed Introduction to Board Governance Part 1, it is not essential. Topics covered in Part 1 will not be revisited in Part 2.
