Due Diligence for Accountants Who Are Board Members

Members of the accounting profession have traditionally volunteered countless hours as Board Directors. The role comes with increasing responsibilities and potential liabilities. The duty of care required is especially tricky for accountants who bring to the table special expertise. Learn how to perform the role with diligence and care.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

-assess the strengths and weaknesses on the board in which they serve

-understand the role of the Board and of the board member;

-define governance versus operations;

-understand what is liability and recognize what are potential liabilities for the organization and for the board member;

-develop strategies to mitigate risks for accountants as board members
